At Design Miami\/Basel, then in Paris as of September 8th, Galerie BSL presents\u00a0\u2018Naturoscopie,\u2019 a collection of limited edition pieces created especially for this event\u00a0by the French designer and interior architect No\u00e9 Duchaufour-Lawrance.<\/p>\n
With this work, the designer is resolutely committed to go beyond a literal\u00a0transcription of nature to rekindle the impressions and sensations that we all feel in\u00a0facing certain natural phenomena.\u00a0In this collection, No\u00e9 Duchaufour-Lawrance puts into perspective an idea of nature\u00a0which is not imitated or represented, but is rather harnessed, sensed and recreated.<\/p>\n
Here, the function of the design object (to light, to place, to reflect\u2026) is infused with a\u00a0primary emotional imprint, that of nature when the sunlight creeps through the foliage\u00a0of a tree, when the sky changes with the wind, when the image of a sunset overwhelms\u00a0the sensitive surface of our memories. Simplicity and universality are conveyed thanks\u00a0to synthetic materials such as carbon fibre, fibreglass, plexiglas and polyamide, rather than\u00a0natural materials, via the technology of LEDs and their digital programming rather\u00a0than a gesture of Arte Povera. The organic shapes of the pieces, fluid yet structured,\u00a0support and extend this sensory experience.<\/p>\n
\u2018Naturoscopie\u2019 is above all reminiscence, a personal, as well as universal, Proust\u2019s\u00a0Madeleine. Design asserts itself as a vector of impressions, an image developer, a\u00a0receptacle and a transmitter of emotions.<\/p>\n
